Gun Safe Fire Ratings: Read the Claim First

We don’t test safes ourselves. We compare published specs, independent certifications and public safety records. Read our method.

A fire duration is meaningful only alongside its test conditions, source and scope. Start by separating the manufacturer’s statement from an independently confirmed directory listing.

Minutes are only part of the claim

Look for the temperature, test profile and protected contents. Our records leave a field unpublished when the available source does not establish it. We do not infer a fire curve from a temperature or turn a marketing phrase into a directory listing.

Who stands behind the number?

A maker or retailer statement gets a dashed claim tag. A certified badge requires a matching independent directory entry and a dated check. The two fireproof models in this build example do not yet have that directory evidence, so their cards show claims.

Fire protection is not burglary protection

A fire claim does not establish resistance to forced entry, water exposure or unauthorized biometric access. The QAP2BLX example has no fire rating recorded. Compare the actual lock methods, anchoring and space requirements rather than assuming all safes provide the same protections.

Choose the next step

For papers, compare fireproof safes. For fingerprint access, read our biometric safe example. Our method explains why unconfirmed claims stay labelled and numeric scores remain unpublished.

Where the numbers come from

Manufacturer and listing claims stay labelled until confirmed in a certifier’s directory.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I compare minutes alone?
No. A duration without the test conditions and the scope of the claim is incomplete. Do not assume two different profiles establish equal protection.
